To cap off the GOTR season, I headed to Salida, CO for the last installment of the festival. The weather was amazing and the mountains weren't a bad backdrop for my photos. Thanks to everyone who let me be a part of this amazing festival this summer. Here are some of my favorite moments.
I got to spend the beginning of June at the Jersey Shore with the GOTR crew for a solid weekend of music and Jäger bombs. Bookending the GOTR Stopover is Mumford & Sons at Coney Island and The Vaccines at Warsaw in Brooklyn. Here it is in pictures
In October 2013,
Justin Young (The Vaccines), Winston Marshall (Mumford and Sons), Mike Harris (Apache Relay), Gil Landry (Old Crow Medicine Show) and Jake Orrall (Jeff the Brotherhood) created the supergroup Salvador Dali Parton.
They Spent three days writing, rehearsing and then performing six shows in one night in Nashville. I got the Privilege of being there for those three days.
The boys of The Lonely Biscuits were kind enough to let me tag along to Austin City Limits back in October to snap them in action all weekend. We were also able to catch a few of our favorite bands and eat a ton of tacos. Mad love to the TLB boys and all my Austin pals.
I went on tour with Apache Relay and Jenny Lewis to start off August.
Here are some photos from all the good times. In our time-off we went to Lollapalooza and caught our boys, The Weeks, at Promotory in Chicago.
July has been a little slower than my back-to-back festival attendance in June but has still been a good time. Apache Relay played to all of downtown Nashville, my house bought a pool, I went to Dixon, Illinois and I found a roll of film from last summer's Nashville Outline's festival. Additionally, I shot this little slideshow for IMPOSE featuring Jawws, Music Band and Ed Schrader's Music Beat.
So here are a few photos from various happenings.
To kick of the summer I hit up Governor's Ball with my dearest Diarrhea Planet. New York was hot but we had 25 ounces of Foster's to get us through. To kick off the weekend I caught Phoenix and Outkast on Friday. And as you would imagine, both did not disappoint. On Saturday I kicked the day off with my boys DP who played to a rowdy 12:45 pm crowd. Shout out to the security team for getting everyone amped. Other notable performances were Jack White and The Strokes. Big thanks to TEAM DP for having me and all the awesome friends for the awesome hangs. Here are a few of my favorite moments from the festival.
It was my fourth Bonnaroo and probably the best one thus far. As you would guess, all of Nashville relocates to this giant field for four days in Manchester, Tennessee. So its basically a big field party with your friends and tons of music. Fresh from Governor's Ball, I headed to the farm with the boys of Diarrhea Planet. This year was the first time DP played and they easily blew everyone out of the water. My friends and I joked that you have to separate favorite shows by the categories Diarrhea Planet and Other Bands. Other favorites that weren't DP included Arctic Monkeys, Jack White, Cage the Elephant and Blank Range. Shout out to my girl Pooneh Ghana for understanding my Arctic Monkeys love. While I wasn't scarfing down a burger or desperately seeking shade, I shot a few shows. Here are some of my favorites from my IMPOSE piece on DP, the shows I caught and all the backstage fun.
I spent the majority of May touring the east coast with some incredible bands-- Apache Relay, The Weeks and the amazing Shelly Colvin. It was an honor to be asked to go on the road by the Apache dudes because this was my first real tour. The tour started in Asheville, ended in Pittsburgh and whole experience was pretty unforgettable. From rooftop hangs in Williamsburgh to dancing in a parking lot in Austin Mahone shirts...It was some of the most fun I've ever had. Minus the part when the van got broken into--which was completely overshadowed by all the good times. I'll let photos do the rest of the talking. Here are some photos to sum up the few weeks I had with these amazing bands. All shot with my Yashica T4, my polaroids and my Mark III.
